This year’s European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) falls on 19th-27th November.
EWWR is an EU–wide initiative to encourage people to produce less waste. Around 20 countries are taking part across the EU and beyond.
Belfast City Council Waste Management are signed up to encourage Belfast businesses to take part. Why not take part in an international initiative that can help improve your green credentials, save you money, and prove to your customers that you are committed to the environment?
Waste costs money. Waste should be considered as a resource, not a disposable commodity. Although recycling is a great way to divert rubbish from landfill, it is far more beneficial for the environment and our pockets if we reduce the waste we have in the first place.
If you have an idea for a waste reduction project that you, your employees and colleagues could carry out during EWWR email the following information to [email protected]:
The name and address of your organisation
How many people will take part in your project (number of staff)
Main contact name, phone number and email address. This is important because we will need to contact you about your project
Your project aim (e.g. to reduce the amount of paper printed in the office, to encourage book re–use at the office, to discourage staff from using disposable cups). See www.ewwr.eu/en or www.belfastcity.gov.uk/waste for more activity ideas
Are you already involved in reducing waste in your workplace? Let us know and you can use this activity for EWWR
A brief summary of your waste reduction project (100 words max)
Why you are interested in taking part (100 words max)

If your business is located elsewhere in Northern Ireland (outside the Belfast City boundary) you can still take part in EWWR. Contact [email protected] to register your action.
