Blessington Welcomes was established in 2023. The group is committed to fostering a supportive environment for new members in our community.
On Sunday Aug 17th, the Market Square was transformed into a vibrant hub of community spirit and international solidarity as residents gathered under glorious sunshine for the Blessington Welcomes fundraiser for Gaza.
The event successfully raised over 3000.00 in donations for UNRA which provides essential humanitarian assistance for Palestine refugees across the Middle East, including emergency food aid, healthcare and shelter support.
The day featured an uplifting programme of activities that brought people together of all ages.
Local music group Noinini provided traditional Irish music. A touching highlight of the event was the participation of new Palestinian residents in the Blessington area who generously contributed traditional desserts to the cake sale.
Seeing our new residents share their cultural heritage through food while being embraced by their neighbours truly captured what the group is about, making connections and showing that Blessington is a place where everyone belongs.
