The Grouped Parishes of Sandford and St Philips, Dublin registered as an Eco-Congregation at the end of 2022.
In 2023, I wrote new lyrics to the music of the traditional hymn All Things Bright And Beautiful.
I wrote them for a Messy Church that we were having on the theme of Creation.
It occurred to me at the time, with the threat to biodiversity as a result of climate change, that all of creation needs to be protected not just the bright and beautiful elements!

All things weird and wonderful
And creepy, dark, and grey,
All are God’s creation,
And have their part to play.
Verse 1
The moths and bats and beetles,
That give us such a fright,
They pollinate our flowers,
Busy through the night.
Verse 2
The nettles with their stingers
That sometimes make us cry,
Are homes and food and shelter,
For moths and butterflies.
Verse 3
From hummingbird to beetle,
From bat to bumble bee,
From flowers to stinging nettles,
That’s Biodiversity!
Verse 4
The beautiful and beastly,
The bright and gloomy too.
Let’s care for all creation,
It’s up to me and you!
