Joint Tree Planting by Stormont Presbyterian and St Colmcille’s Parishioners, Belfast

Brian McLoughlin sent us this report:

Around forty people, parishioners from St Colmcille’s Church, Ballyhackamore, and members of Stormont Presbyterian congregation gathered in Tullycarnet Park in East Belfast on Saturday 18 April 2026. Our purpose was twofold: to plant 50 native tree saplings, willow, alder, birch and oak; and to tidy and mulch around the bases of the 100 or so trees which members of the two congregations had planted in the park in the previous two years. The trees were all grown from seedlings by Gordon Clarke, a member of the Stormont congregation. This is the fourth such event organised by members of the two churches in collaboration with the local council in recent years as part of our continuing commitment to care for our common home. We are grateful to Belfast City Council who facilitated the event and provided spades and gloves.
