Two Dublin churches to receive Eco Congregation awards!

Two Dublin churches will soon be receiving awards from Eco Congregation Ireland in recognition of their environmental endeavours.

dundrumserviceDundrum Methodist Church and Whitechurch Church of Ireland have both been undertaking environmental initiatives for a number of years.

Our independent assessors were both hugely impressed during their recent visit to both churches where they met members of each congregation’s eco committees and found out about the work being undertaken to promote environmental awareness.

whitechurchBoth churches incorporate the environment into worship on a regular basis as well as undertaking practical initiatives and promoting environmental awareness in the community.

Whitechurch and Dundrum Methodist are also both involved in Three Rock Churches’ Environment Group, which was established three years ago following a showing of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ by Dundrum Methodist’s Eco Committee.

See our Eco Examples section to find out more about the range of activities being undertaken by each of these congregations.

Any church that has been working consistently on environmental initiatives for two years or more is invited to apply for an Eco Congregation Award. Simply email your details to [email protected].

Only two other churches in Ireland have received Eco Congregation awards so far – St Molua’s Church of Ireland, Belfast, and Clonakilty Methodist Church, Co Cork.

Who will be next?!
