It was with great sadness we learned of the death of Sr Catherine Brennan. Sr Catherine was a wonderful encouragement to our group from our foundation to just a couple of weeks before her death. We all remember her enthusiasm and support and her encouraging phone calls. May she Rest In Peace.
Westport Eco-Congregation held two very successful events recently. In February we welcomed the authors of Parish as an Oasis – Kevin Hargedon and Dr Ciara Murphy. We had a lively discussion after their presentation as to how a parish can get involved in Climate Action. We were delighted that our audience consisted of representatives from neighbouring parishes as well as our own community. In early March we were extremely privileged to welcome Martin Palmer CEO of Faith Invest to a zoom event. The title of Martin’s talk was Faith in the Future. Over 60 participants took part in this event and we were treated to a hopeful talk on the future of our planet. We welcomed participants from all over Ireland and beyond. For the first time in six years Westport Eco-Congregation were unable to hold an Earth Hour event this year – however we did promote Earth Hour in our local media and on social media.
