ECI Climate Justice Candle Visits Holy Trinity Westport, St Thomas Dugort Achill, Christ Church Castlebar and Turlough Church

Brid McAuley sent us this update:

Westport Eco Congregation welcomed a new Administrator to St Mary’s Westport – Fr John Kenny and a new Rector to Holy Trinity C of I – Rev Suzanne Cousins in the summer.  Both Churches were very enthusiastic regarding the Season of creation.  We created a sacred space at the rear of St Mary’s Church – we displayed the prayer for the Season on a large pull up banner and we had a series of ideas as to how we could walk lighter on our planet displayed.  Both Churches had many references to the Season of Creation in their worship.  Holy Trinity Church and the other churches in their group – Castlebar, Turlough and Dugort Achill all hosted the Climate Action Candle at their Harvest Thanksgiving services.  All the sermons given at the Harvest Services were challenging us to reflect on how we live our lives on this planet.  Members of Westport Eco Congregation played an active part in the harvest services.  Probably the highlight of our Season of Creation was our Blessing of the Pets service held at the foot of Croagh Patrick on an extremely inclement day.  However over 60 pet owners braced the conditions and were led by Fr John Kenny and Rev Suzanne Cousins in a prayer service for Pets on the weekend before the feast of St Francis of Assisi.
