‘Creation Matters’ Lenten course ~ Ballineaspaig, Cork

The recent heart-rending situations arising from the unprecedented flooding in Ireland are helping us to come to grips with the reality that our world is changing; change is global and not just happening “out there somewhere”.

globeLaudato Si: Caring for our Common Home, this is not just a matter of climate change brought about by human activity, but of greed, arising from market-dominated economics and unsustainable growth.  He has appealed for an “ecological conversion”.  This is not a matter just for governments, politicians and scientists, but he emphasises “local individuals and groups can make a real difference”.

A series of presentations will be held on 4 Tuesdays in Lent, starting on 16th   February:

Justin Kilcullen, former Director of Trócaire, will consider global change and social justice;

Paul Healy, Trócaire Country Director, Kenya, will outline his experiences of migration caused by environmental change;

Fr. Seán Healy, Director, Social Justice Ireland, will address social justice, with particular reference to Ireland;

Finally, Daithi O’hAodha, a member of the Faith in Action Group, will outline what we can do individually and collectively to improve matters and “care for our common home”.
