At the same time, the Laudato Si’ book club has been meeting fortnightly on zoom and has just finished reading and discussing Elizabeth Johnson’s Ask the Beasts: Darwin and the God of Love. Ask the Beasts is an opportunity to open up the dialogue between science and religion on the topic of evolution and natural selection. In formulating an innovative theology of creation, Johnson challenges traditional assumptions and helps the reader engage with Darwin’s analysis of evolutionary processes in a very positive way.
